Week 7 SummaryOn Thursday for all intents and purposes, we completed Chapter 2 with a discussion on soap molecules, detergent molecules and micelles. Detergent and soap molecules work very similarly - as both have hydrocarbon tails that associate with the oil particles forming a micelle, pushing hydrophilic ionic heads towards the outside to interact with water. The difference between them: soap molecules possess carboxylate anions and detergent molecules possess sulfate anions.
On Thursday we started Chapter 3 - Orbital Interactions 1 - Hybridization and Two-Center Molecular Orbitals which is broken down into the following sections:

You should have all received Test #2, covering Chapter 2, in your email boxes this week. Unlike Test #1, this is a closed-note, closed-book, closed-brilliant-relative-or-neighbor exam. Please turn this in by Tuesday, October 21st.
